Advanced Equipment For Your Pet

Our pets sometimes need advanced testing to diagnose an illness or injury. These tests help in emergencies and when exams indicate a need for further investigation. They allow us to catch problems quickly and get your pet the loving care they need.

X-Rays, Ultrasound, and CT Scans at Live Oak Animal Hospital

At Live Oak Animal Hospital, we use the latest technology to help us determine why your pet isn’t eating well, is having trouble walking, or has another health-related issue. We use several advanced testing techniques and have compassionate, well-trained emergency and urgent care staff ready to help.

X-Rays

Our state-of-the-art digital X-ray machine poses no health risk to your pet and helps us quickly create images of problem areas. We use X-rays to find things such as bone fractures, enlarged organs, or swallowed objects.

Our advanced equipment allows us to show your pet’s X-rays on an iPad so you are informed of what is happening every step of the way.

Ultrasound

We get more detailed information about your pet’s organs from an ultrasound. It helps us diagnose pregnancy, tumors, blockages, and other conditions. We may recommend an ultrasound to determine if your pet has a heart condition or to explore abnormal blood or urine test results further.

An ultrasound can also detect swallowed objects that X-rays can’t catch, such as cloth or thin plastic.

CT Scans

Computerized tomography, or CT, scanning, helps us diagnose problems with your pet that X-rays can’t catch. A CT scan takes 360-degree images around your pet, creating cross-sectional images that aid diagnosis. We may give your pet a contrasting dye to help highlight blood vessels on the scan.
